The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on 8 September, originated in Jerusalem around the late fifth century, near a site venerated as Mary’s birthplace (the Church of St Anne).

The liturgy invites us to rejoice, for the birth of Mary means that the birth of Jesus, our Saviour, is coming near.

Mary’s birth prepared us for the mystery of redemption. “When the fullness of time at last arrives, Mary comes into the world as the dawn of the New Covenant” (Blessed James Alberione).

To celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, there will be Mass at 9.00 AM on Friday, 8 September at St Dominic’s Church, Innaloo.
